The Greater Niagara Circle Route is a trail system that links over 140 km of recreational trails. The route encompasses the Welland Canals, Friendship, Waterfront and Niagara River Recreational Trails.
Passing through urban centers, the Niagara Escarpment, waterfronts, rural and agricultural areas, the route offers the perfect opportunity for multi-day cycle-touring trips.

Lake Ontario Waterfront Trail |

Niagara-on-the-Lake to Grimsby (49km, paved and unpaved sections).
The Waterfront Trail begins in Niagara-on-the-Lake at Butler's Park and stretches 650km to the Québec border, with 900km of signed trail. Along the Niagara section of the trail you will discover two historic military forts, the Shaw Festival, dozens of shops, restaurants, and wineries.

Niagara-on-the-Lake to Fort Erie (56km, paved)
Set along the scenic Niagara River and Parkway, this meandering side path offers captivating scenery for all users.
This trail will take you past historic sites, beautiful gardens, wooded parklands, the Niagara Escarpment and the thunder of the Canadian and American Falls.

Lake Ontario to Lake Erie (42km, mostly paved)
This trail follows the Welland Canal where over 3000 ships pass each year.
It is 3 metres wide and mostly flat except around the Niagara Escarpment, where you can watch ships climb the locks. Trail features include municipal parks, lock viewing areas and historic districts.

Niagara Escarpment to Niagara-on-the-Lake (14km, rough gravel and paved rural road sections)
This converted rail line is most suitable for mountain bikes. Along this trail you will cycle past farms, wineries and orchards towards the historic Old Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake.
