If any cyclist who comes via Biketrain and wishes a volunteer tour guide cyclist. I know the area quite well for both road and mountainbike. As for the mountain bike. I can take the visiting cyclists to the top of the escarpment whereas they can view 260 degrees... the city of North Bay and Lake Nipissing.

Summer 2009:
The weekend was a wonderful experience right from the moment you meet the Biketrain staff at the station up to minute you get back to Toronto; The bicycle route MAP was extremely useful.
I will repeat this ride again and again.

When I heard Minister Monique Smith announce that the Bike Train would be going to North Bay I was quite exited. Wow, I though, I'd drive over to North Bay from my home in Greater Sudbury and away I go to the Niagara Region and experience all that there was on offer. When I read in Cyclometer that the excursion is to bring Southern People north, while I'm happy for North Bay receiving some well deserved attention, I'm p.o.'d that we Northerners are denied, once again, opportunities provided to others in this Torontocentric province of ours. I can't believe this especially since Ontario Northland operates out of, guess where, NORTH BAY! Well bloody done.
> Thanks for your comments Glenn. The Ontario North Bike Train pilot weekend is on August 7 to 10, and will test out the logistics for future service expansion for both North Bay-bound and Toronto-bound travel. A specially equipped baggage car is being borrowed to allow for this pilot weekend. We are excited about introducing more transportation options for cyclists in the future.

I really wish you could open up the bike train schedule.
Early departure from Toronto and later return would allow so many more train riders and cyclists to enjoy a day trip.

Cool site!
I know wine and driving does not mix too well, but anyway - you may consider visiting few wineries along the way both in niagara and toronto area.
Find details at: http://www.wineriesontario.com

Thank you for an enjoyable and comfortable ride back home on the Bike Train back on September 27/08. The Bike Train Staff, and VIA Train Staff were courteous and helpful, and the free wine samples provided on the train by the Funding & Project Administrators made the trip back even more relaxing.
I look forward to bike riding the Greater Niagara Circle Route and Bike Train again in 2009.

I took the biketrain to Niagara Falls this weekend and had a wonderful time! I encourage you to leave your cars in the garage and go green! All the staff of the Biketrain were so helpful, friendly, and gave me excellent advice on routes and places to stay. A fabulous... get out of the city into beauty... weekend! Do it!!

Yeah, guys, come to Niagara and spend your bucks in our economically depressed area. Tourism is the only reason we are staying afloat.
Lay offs are a way of life here...John Deere in Welland was just closed and that's another 800 of us out of work. So, yes, by all means come and visit us!
I thought this was a link to a web site with job postings...guess not!

Niagara is a wonderful place to visit and a great place to go biking. There is an extensive network of paved trails throughout the region and plenty to do and see. The Niagara Region is fast becoming known as a cycling destination as well as a wine region and the home of the world famous Niagara Falls.

On July 5, four of us left Toronto at 6 a.m. and made the ride to Niagara Falls. Bikes and riders performed flawlessly and by 1:30 we were riding down Clifton Hill. Had time to get sprayed by the falls, take pictures, have lunch and slowly make our way over to the train station. Took the Bike Train home and had a great relaxing ride back home. All in all, about 160 km. Loved it!
We'll be doing it once more this year with a longer ride through Niagara on the Lake. Thanks for organizing this. Great idea!
